Brenda Beattie is a music specialist whose enthusiasm and passion transfers to those she teaches. Brenda currently runs several music programs in the area and teaches at Acorn Montessori School in Thornbury and at Red Tailed Hawk Forest School near Collingwood.

Training at the Dick Grove Music School in Los Angeles, Brenda has a background in jazz vocals and piano. She has attained her LLCM in jazz piano performance from the London College of Music, London England. Brenda is a level two Orff instructor. The Orff approach is holistic and provides opportunities for students to experience and explore the elements of music through playing percussion, singing, moving, and improvisation.

Brenda is a member of the Georgian Triangle Music Teachers Association, the Ontario Orff Association, The Coalition for Music Education and the Dalcroze Society of Canada.

Nelson Beattie is an active woodwind specialist in the Canadian music scene. With a music background from both Humber and Mohawk Colleges, Nelson has over 10 years experience performing, educating, composing and arranging. He has attained his LLCM from the London College of Music, London England. Having performed with artists, such jazz legend Brad Turner to pop acts like USS, Down with Webster and Walk off the Earth, Nelson is comfortable performing and teaching in numerous styles.

Currently, Nelson can be heard performing in the Georgian Triangle area with Laura Conning as a duo called Honey Moon Phase.

Nelson runs two band programs at BVCS for elementary students.

Darla Anderson

Darla Anderson has over twenty-five years experience as an artist and painter and has won numerous awards for her work. Darla has studied art at the Halliburton School of the Arts and Sir Sanford Fleming College. Before studying art she ran her own business, specializing in interior decorating and painting.  She has taught art at The Bay School of Art with Michelle Fleming as well as The Blue Mountain Foundation of the Arts. Darla is thrilled to be part of the Fine Art & Music Camp this summer.
